Band Instrument Types
Students may select from any of the following instruments to learn (depending on availability at Chinook and/or local music stores):
- Woodwind: Flute, Oboe, Bassoon, Alto Saxophone, Tenor Saxophone, Bari Saxophone
- Brass: Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Baritone/Euphonium, Tuba
- Percussion: students will need a snare drum/bell kit for home practice as well as a stick bag with timpani/snare drum/xylophone mallets, but will perform on percussion instruments from Nisqually while at school.

About Chinook Choirs
Whether students are brand-new to choir or already love to sing, choir is a place to grow as musicians, build confidence, and become leaders. Students will learn healthy vocal technique, teamwork, performance skills, and fun, engaging music in many styles. Choir is an inclusive place where students quickly find friendship, support, and a sense of family—everyone has a place here, and every voice matters!
- Cadence: 6th-grade choir
- Rhapsody: Intermediate choir with a mix of 6th (by elementary teacher recommendation only), 7th, and 8th grade students.
- Echoes: Advanced 7th and 8th-grade choir. By invitation only.
